Advent Carol for December 7
Written by Lise Caldwell
Angels and archangels
May have gathered there
Cherubim and seraphim
Thronged the air
But his mother only
In her maiden bliss
Worshiped the Beloved
With a kiss.
This verse of “In the Bleak Midwinter,” by Christina Rossetti, paints such a beautiful picture of Christ’s divinity and humanity; his deity and his humility. The heavenly realms recognize what most of us miss–moments of sacred connections and encounters. I’m grateful for a Savior who descended from heaven; I’m prayerful that I will worship him, as Mary did, to the best of my human ability and in the most tender of ways.
